A little bit of good news (no, my RE still has not called about A's test results!) from yesterday. I got to work and signed online to check for orders and whatnot and saw that Southwest is having a deal on flights. So I thought I would look into it for A and I to go home. So I looked at a week this fall, flying from L.A. to De.troit. First response was $607, not bad for the both of us, changed the return date, second response was $444!! So, we are going home! We are excited. And we will be in town to celebrate my birthday with family. Hopefully it will be a good time.
I was kind of waiting to see when the next cycle would be, but who knows and why put my life on hold for IF and treatments? I decided we would just do it. So we are excited.
I am going to bed early tonight. We were good yesterday, went for a run/walk when we got home and today I lifted weights and did some crunches. But AF is here with a vengeance. I have a killer headache and cramps. Bed looks very inviting. Hope everyone has a nice night!!

Good, but tiring weekend
So I went home. To MI! I was happy to be able to see my parents again. I guess I am too homesick in some peoples opinions, but oh well. I think part of it stems from our IF. It's really hard to go through, as many know, and it feels in a way like an illness to me and it makes me want my mom. So I had a blast. Let's begin from the beginning, which wasn't all that smooth.......
Wednesday @ 7am I headed down to the airport. Everything was smooth until we reached my favorite airport - Phoenix. My connecting plane had mechanical issues and was delayed 3 hours. Yay. I have spent some many hours in that airport waiting for delayed planes or for the next plane because my first plane was delayed. It's really great.
Anyway! So instead of arriving in Detroit at 6:30, I got in at 10. It was worst for my dad as he gets up at 4:30am to go to work, so he was really tired on Thursday.
On Thursday my mom and I hung out. I got my hair cut, we went to lunch and shopping then home to spend time w/my dad and just relax.
On Friday my mom and I went to the mall and then we went out with my dad and A's parents and brother for dinner. Then we went to a local bar in my hometown and my best friends all showed up. We left there, the parents went home and we went bowling and to a karaoke bar.
On Saturday my BFF and I ate breakfast w/my parents, went shopping (lol, I am not even that big of a shopper!) and then out to dinner w/my and her parents. Later that night all my friends came over my mom and dad's again and brought their kids (fun, but.......).
On Sunday my BFF had to leave for home and I had to get ready to go home too. It was a sad day, but so worth it to see my parents again.
My mom gave me some needles, syringes and saline so I can practice my injections too. It was really nice of her. I have to go pick up my BCP's sometime this week because I start those on Friday night. I have my Menopur and my other drugs were overnighted today, so I should be receiving those tomorrow. So yay! And, OMG! And.... I don't even know what to say.
Here it goes!
And it's definitely a go. I started spotting pink yesterday, so I am just waiting for it to start fully. But that should work out well w/the BCP's too, starting right as I start my period.
I should get going though. I am so tired from the time change and not sleeping well last night. I am going to job search and then go up to bed. Happy St. Patty's Day!!

MI here I come!
So I did it. I talked to my boss today and she gave me the go-ahead to go "home" next week and visit my parents and some friends. I am beyond excited. We haven't been home since August. The only bummer is that A can't come w/me. Otherwise I am super excited and so are my parents. Flight prices went up, but A said to go ahead and do it anyway.
Speaking of money, A started working on our taxes tonight. We are NOT excited. It looks like we are going to owe money for the first time ever. It sucks. Hopefully he can get it figured out to at least drop the amount we owe. Sucks, sucks, sucks. Gotta spend a TON of money on IVF and I was hoping to at least cover the meds w/our return, but it looks like we have to do OOP (out of pocket) AND pay extra in taxes. Blah.
Oh and I have a good recipe that I wanted to share. I forgot to take a pic of it last night, but it turned out so yummy! Here it is:
Pork Chops in Mushroom Gravy
(I made this for two, but you could adjust for more)
2 thick cut boneless pork chops
1 small onion
1 can of mushrooms (or fresh)
1 can of cream of mushroom soup
Olive oil
White wine
Milk
Spices: Garlic powder, salt, pepper, onion powder, basil
Saute onions and mushrooms in olive oil until beginning to turn brown
While doing this season your pork w/salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and basil
Remove onions and mushrooms
Place small pat of butter in hot pan. Once melted place pork in pan to brown
While pork is browning, combine cream of mushroom soup, milk, and white wine (I eyeballed these, I am guessing around 1/4 c. each) and stir until combined
Add in mushrooms and onions. Season w/pepper, basil, garlic, and onion powder
Remove browned pork chops
Deglaze pan w/small amount of wine
Add soup mixture and pork chops
Cover and cook for 30-35 minutes on low to md-low heat (160 degree internal temp for pork)
During cooking I spooned the "gravy" over the meat to help it cook and keep it moist
I served it w/mashed potatoes (w/gravy on top) and green beans. It was so good. The wine gave the gravy a light yet rich flavor and the pork was so tender and moist.
I will definitely be making this again soon. If you try it I hope you enjoy it!

Boring, boring
Just checking in real quick. It's Saturday around 6. We were out and about today. Got some free undies from VS. Have another coupon waiting to be used, but it's not until next week. Applied for another job today. It's depressing to even look out there right now, there is just nothing. Sigh.
Only 20 more days until I start BCP's. I got my Menopur in the mail on Wenesday. One thing off my list!
Other than that, nothing much new. My mom and I looked up all the drugs online to see what their use is.
I am trying to get back to MI in March for a few days. We will see if that works out. A says I should go even if he can't. So I am going to ask on Monday and see what the evil bosses say. Cross your fingers for me. My mom has four days off so it would be awesome to see her again.
Anyway. That's about it for now.

Monday...cruddy Monday
So my new cycle started on Friday. Can't put off getting the testing done anymore. So today my husband went and got his part started. I have an "appointment" Wednesday morning with the nurse to go get my cheek swabbed (for a thrombophilia panel to check my clotting factors), and starting CD9 I have to start using OPK's to watch for my surge so I can schedule my biopsy. Hopefully traveling doesn't mess with my scheduling this month because I would like to get all this done so we can move onto bigger and better things next month. :-)
We had a pretty good weekend - Friday was pretty boring. A played the Wii and I went to bed early with a headache. Saturday we went and saw The House Bunny. It was a silly little movie, but it was funny. Then we went home and rearranged the bedroom, which I loved because it made it seem so much more open and like it flowed better. Then we relaxed the rest of the night. On Sunday we went out for lunch to Arby's (fancy huh?), to Target (spent too much money on who knows what, but isn't that what Target is for), and to Michaels, where we got a few Halloween decorations and a kissing ball for me to decorate for Christmas. Anyone who knows me would say that my favorite holiday is Christmas, but I do like all of the bigger holidays because it gives me an excuse to decorate and change things up.
Sunday was also a little hard. I drank some wine and got sappy and sad. Talked to my mom and dad and missed them, listened to A talk to his parents, missed them, got sad, then starting thinking about kids and pregnancy and trying and all that fun stuff and just fell apart. It was good in one way because I talked to A and we decided that we would do what we had to do to get a kid. We would do IUI if the RE suggests it and at least one IVF if necessary. So that made me feel better, as I have wondered where he stood and what he thought of the whole process. I feel like we have more of a plan now and that we are on the same page at least.
My boss interviewed a new sales girl today. Two thumbs up for that FINALLY happening. She liked her and seemed to think that she would offer her the job. So hopefully that will mean someone to take my old position, so I can focus on my new one and not have to think about sales and hopefully not travel anymore after this season. Hopefully not at all this season, but let's not ask for too much here. (please note heavy sarcasm) I am still job searching, I applied for three jobs last week, but didn't see anything tonight when I was looking. Some day though.
Speaking of job searching, I have thought about going to a career coach. They are trained to help with careers - finding one, deciding on what you would be best at, etc etc. So that might help me, but right now it's just a thought, I haven't made up my mind to do it yet.
Well, that's all for now. Be back soon.

Beginnings
Well, every blog has to begin somewhere, so this is it!
At the time of writing this I am at a somewhat ambivalent point in my life. Still "young", but feeling lost.
We are in the process, have been in the process, of trying for a baby for almost two years now, we are recent transplants to California, and I am pining for a new job.
We have a great life in so many aspects, and I wonder why I can't just sit back and be happy, but for some reason, some THING is holding me back.
Trying to conceive is constantly on my mind, and although I do have supportive people in my life to discuss it with, I sometimes feel as if I am alone in my thoughts and worries.
I miss home. Which is strange to both myself and my husband, because I always knew that I wanted to move out of Michigan, and we have been happy here since, but we recently visited home and it makes one miss familiar sights, sounds, smells, and family and friends.
On the job front.... who knows? The job I had out of college was okay, not great, and then bad. The job I currently hold started out phenomonal and has since began to turn downhill. Probably for the same reason the earlier one did (coworkers and office issues aside), it's still a sales job with lots of travel. I liked (saying this somewhat hesitantly) traveling in the beginning, but it got old fast, and with this new job I am traveling almost double what I did with the last. It was crazy this last year, and I am sure that it is not helping our trying to conceive (TTC from now on).
So at times it feels as if everything is wrong.
But I am lucky.
I have a wonderful husband, my health, a job, a place to life, a car to drive, two beautiful, loving cats....I could go on and on.
But sometimes I have trouble focusing on these things.
Back to TTC, I am frustrated with the whole process (which I am nearing the end of another month, with my hopes high again) and the time that it is taking.
"Just relax, try not to think about it so much", "you're young, give it time", etc etc, get kind of old. We tried for over a year on our own, and when I visited the OBGYN recently, I mentioned to her our issues. We began to temp and chart and time things more than we did before, and after three months I returned and was told to continue on. I have had a hysterosalpingogram and everything was clear, my husband has also had his prelim. testing, which came back clear, so I decided to make an appt with a Reproductive Endocrinologist (RE). He did the initial ultrasound and that was fine and he would like me to get some clotting tests, further testing on my husband, and a endometrial biopsy. I am putting these things off, because I am still holding out hope for this cycle, but they are still on my list of things to do......lots to think about as I mentioned.
So, to end this first entry, I am crossing my fingers that the curse stays far away this cycle and our hopes are fulfilled. 21 cycles is a long time.......
And the job search will still continue, also.
